Castle Rock Sports Center

Looking to provide a space for major youth basketball and volleyball tournaments, youth swim competitions, and additional community sports amenities, the Town of Castle Rock paired with developer Confluence and BRS to design and build the new Castle Rock Sports Center.

 

At about 100,000 sqft this facility hosts 8 elementary school basketball courts, 4 high school courts, 2 middle school courts, 5 volleyball courts, 12 pickleball courts, 11 competitive swim lanes, a 3-lane warm up pool, and several fitness and multi-use spaces for the community.

 

The major concept of this project was based on the idea of creating a "base camp" and "catalyst" for activities within the community, as well as a concept of "see it, be it, in it" referring to the idea that you can be the athlete, the spectator, or just a passerby, but you can choose your level of interaction.

I have been the only designer on this project continuously from the Schematic Design phase and have taken on the role of coordinating the entire interiors of the building as well as leading the coordination of our Interior Design consultant Gallun Snow. This project is still in progress and is now entering the Construction Documentation phase as of April 2024, but is expected to break ground in March 2025.
